Relationships require us to be vulnerable, so it makes sense that this can cause us to have anxiety. If we have experienced trauma, this can amplify our fears and make it really hard to trust others and to connect with others.

Some common relationship fears include:

🔹Fear of abandonment
🔹Fear of betrayal
🔹Fear of being vulnerable
🔹Fear of intimacy (emotional & physical)
🔹Fear of commitment
🔹Fear of not being good enough

Fears can manifest in a relationship in many ways, such as withdrawing, getting angry, having rigid boundaries, or having no boundaries! These behaviours can create an unhealthy relationship dynamic, leaving partners feeling disconnected from each other.

Empathic Counselling can help you to address these fears, and understand the patterns that you are feeling stuck in. Therapy can also support you to discover what your needs are in a relationship, and how to go about expressing your needs in a healthy way. Therapy also helps you to reconnect with yourself, and to access your inner strength and resilience.
