There is currently no Medicare rebate available for counselling services in Australia. However, the cost to see a psychologist is often considerably more than to see a counsellor, so that even with a mental health care plan from your doctor, the out-of-pocket payable gap fee is likely to be comparable to Empathic Counselling’s full fee. In addition, there are no limits to how many sessions you can attend, and no diagnosis is required in order to access support. Please note that there is no Medicare rebate for couples therapy, even when seeing a psychologist.
